Every Man’s Battle

Every Man's Battle: Winning the War on Sexual Temptation One Victory at a Time (The Every Man Series)I’m currently reading Every Man’s Battle: Winning the War on Sexual Temptation One Victory at a Time by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker. This is a book helpful for those struggling with pornography and lust. Every pastor should read this book and consider it for use in pornography-recovery groups; I intend to use it so.

My Army Chaplaincy Recruiter sent me Every Woman’s Battle. [Actually a whole box of related stuff.] I haven’t started reading it yet though. I think it’s great that they’re equipping future chaplains with such tools.

Yes, it’s great that such resources are available. There is a ministry that supplies copies of both of these books for free to military personnel. Unfortunately, when I requested some, I was informed that financial resources were not available to provide them to me.

I ran across this article that offers insight from a military spouse about this resource: Every Man’s Battle: Maybe Some Things Take a Little Religion.

The book is an excellent resource. I work for Covenant Eyes, a computer software company that has created accountability software. Many, many pastors have started recommending it for their congregations. Essentially users download the software to their personal computers (or work computers) and a complete record of their internet surfing activity is logged on our servers. Then detailed reports are sent to accountability partners of their choosing. It has helped many people get to the root of their addictions, find accountability and discipleship and avoid temptation. If you know anyone that could benefit from this, please check us out. We’re in the business of changing lives.

Sex Is Not The Problem (Lust Is)

Are You Guarding Your Heart Against Lust?
Lust isn’t just a guy problem—it’s a human problem. And unless we’re willing to honestly confront it, lust will destroy our relationships and our lives. This book (previously titled Not Even A Hint) calls a generation bombarded with pornography and images of sexual sin back to God’s standards and the freedom and joy of holiness.

In this book, I wanted to be straightforward about sexual sin without being graphic. It is my hope that this “PG-rated” book will speak to the person deeply entrenched in lust, as well as to those just flirting with temptation. I shared honestly about my own struggles to help expose the tactics of lust in the heart, and to help readers create a personal and practical plan for fighting back. I really wanted to help men and women find hope in God’s grace and learn the way to lasting change.

As I mentioned, Sex Is Not The Problem (Lust Is) used to be called Not Even a Hint. Why the change? Simply, we had a lot of people telling us that they had no idea from the title what it was about. Hopefully the new title makes it more clear what the core message of the book is all about.

This is a description of Joshua Harris book. “Sex is not the problem (lust is)”.

Here are some other good books to consider.

“Every Young Man’s Battle” will show young men how to train their eyes and minds, how to clean up their thought life, and develop a realistic battle plan for remaining pure in today’s sexually soaked culture. The authors, Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker, offer young Christian men workable, biblical strategies for achieving sexual purity.

2004 GOLD MEDALLION BOOK AWARD WINNER
It’s never been easy for a father or mother to talk to a son about sex. For Christian parents, it’s always been a challenge to know exactly how to teach God’s standards of purity and integrity.

But today, the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been. So it’s vital that fathers and mothers prepare their sons to withstand the sexual onslaught of their culture through movies, television, music, and the internet.

But what should you say? And when and how should you say it?

Now there’s help you can trust: “Preparing Your Son for Every Man’s Battle”. The authors behind the best-selling “Every Man” series have put together all the resources and guidance you need to experience frank, thorough, and natural conversations with your son about sexual integrity. They offer an effective new communication process that ensures a deep, abiding relationship between you and your son as he moves into his teen years and beyond.

Equip your young man with the biblical information and spiritual insights he needs to stand strong, overcome temptation, and experience the blessings of godly obedience…for the rest of his life.
