Houston, a Colorado guardsman attached to the 422nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion at Kandahar Air Field (KAF), is a young chaplain who served as an assistant pastor before volunteering to serve in Afghanistan.

Not only does the Oklahoma State University graduate address soldiers’ needs, but he also advises the commander on individual concerns and morale.

And on Sundays, soldiers can find Houston presiding over a service with fellow pastors.
