Gen. Douglas Carver, the Army’s top chaplain.
The ceremony Wednesday marked the opening of the contemplative garden located next to the Army Chaplain Center and School at this training installation outside Columbia. Fort Jackson is the Army’s largest training post.
The memorial features a life-size bronze statue of an Army chaplain who is comforting a grief-stricken soldier.
